Bachelor thesis "Martinic palace in Prague during the ownership of George Bořita of Martinic and his follower Jaroslav Bořita of Martinic. Its architectural form and decoration" is based on the Martinic palace in the Hradčany square during the ownerships of George Bořita of Martinic and Jaroslav Bořita of Martinic. At the beginning you can find the list of the owners, who owned the palace, during this there appeared important changes not only architectural, but also in decoration. The first cheapter is devoted to the list of the owners who owned the palace. The next cheapter is about the architectural appearance of the palace, that is about the inside and outside. There is also a cheapter, devoted to the Martinic family, the first of all about the two owners of the palace, which where pround to be discendents of this family. They are George Bořita of Martinic and Jaroslav Bořita of Martinic, who made important changes of the palace. Among them also sgraffitos on the main frontage in the direction of Kanovnická street. There are elaborated Joseph stories. Another sgraffitos was used on two walls of yards frontage, where you can see Samson's deeds and Hercules acts. Renaissance mural paintings and sgraffiti on the facades in town Prachatice

Práce zpracovává renesanční fasádní nástěnné malby a sgrafita v Prachaticích. Časově je práce vymezena 16. stoletím, kdy město vlastnili Rožmberkové. Největší rozkvět města je spojen s vládou Viléma z Rožmberka v 2. polovině 16. století, kdy ve městě také vnikly všechny výpravnější figurální výzdoby domů. Výzdoba jednotlivých domů odráží postupný majetkový vzestup prachatických měšťanů. Realizace z 50. a 60. let 16. století jsou spíše výtvarně a také technologicky skromnější. Největší vzepětí jak majetkové tak také umělecké lze sledovat od začátku 70. let. Hrdost měšťanů a jejich estetické nároky nejlépe dokládá výzdoba Staré radnice. Nesmírně zajímavá a kvalitní výzdoba prachatických domů otvírá jako celek řadu otázek. Vedle dílenských a uměleckých souvislostí s ostatními jihočeskými městy, je to problém autenticity památky. Na některých fasádách, které byly pokládány za renesanční, se již s renesanční malbou ve skutečnosti nesetkáme. Jedná se o barokní novotvary, které motivickými částmi navázaly na původní výzdobu. Výrazné jsou odkazy na Rožmberky, které připomíná téměř každá fasáda. To nelze vysvětlit jinak, než jako výraz subordinace majiteli panství a tamnímu panovníkovi. Abstract In this bachelor thesis, I focus on the exterior mural sgraffito décor of three Renaissance castles connected by the Royal Bohemian smelter. I concentrate this thesis on the cultural and historical context of the Renaissance Art period in the area of the Bohemian kingdom, the sgraffito craftsmanship, and its development in the Northern European regions. For this work, I have chosen three renaissance castles - Benátky nad Jizerou, Nelahozeves and Brandýs nad Labem. Firstly I will introduce their historical value and I will explain connections between the castles, the Royal Bohemian smelter, and the Renaissance sgraffito decoration, which I will also use to analyze singular iconographical motives, to which I will add the original graphical artworks, that were used as examples for illustrating particular scenes and topics. As a conclusion, I will try to compare the artistic level of mural sgraffito decorations and I will also add some more examples of this kind of decoration in the same period, location, and quality. Restoration of sgraffito on a cement base

Hlavním záměrem předkládaného památkového postupu bylo popsat specifika sorelového sgrafita, pojmenovat hlavní problémy jeho restaurování a na postupech ověřených zkušebními zásahy navrhnout vhodné řešení. Podkladem stanovení postupu jsou výsledky terénního a laboratorního výzkumu získané v průběhu výzkumného projektu. Úvodní tezí výzkumu, který stanovení památkového postupu předcházel, byl literaturou často opakovaný fakt, že se pro sorelová sgrafita využívala cementové omítky. Objevoval se nejen v recentní literatuře, ale zdůrazňovaly jej i dobové příručky. Při samotném restaurátorském průzkumu a laboratorním vyhodnocení odebraných vzorků byl vyvrácen. Ukázalo se, že sgrafita 50. let byla ve většině případů prováděna tradiční vápennou technologií. Samotné cementové sgrafito se stalo až výsadou 60. a 70. let 20. století a často bylo využíváno v poloprofesionálním či přímo amatérském prostředí. Hlavním rozdílem mezi sorelovými sgrafity a sgrafity předchozích etap vývoje tak byla volba podkladu. Sorelová sgrafita byla často prováděna na cementovém (betonovém) podkladu, resp. na panelech. Ve zkoumaných příkladech nevyplynuly z této skutečnosti závažnější problémy, které by bylo nutné při restaurátorských zásazích aktuálně řešit. Předkládaný památkový postup tak především definuje ostatní problémy, s nimiž se restaurátoři setkali, a popisuje metody restaurování, které byly použity při vzorových restaurátorských zásazích, a které je možné aplikovat i na další památky z této skupiny.

Facades of townhouses in Slavonice

This bachelor's thesis focuses on the issues facades of Renaissance townhouses in Slavonice. It deals with the diversity of its architectural division and sgraffito. It observes factors, which probably influenced the formation of their unique shape. It describes in detail the fourteen selected houses and also contains photographs of houses taken by the author of the bachelor's thesis. It searches and compares Renaissance houses in the surrounding Slavonice, which have similar characteristics. It refers to unique collection of houses of Slavonice, especially given by the quality of sgraffito decoration and the simultaneous occurrence diamond vault. It highlights the exceptional cultural value and necessity of conservation, which tries to help.

The human ages in symbolic decoration of facades of renaissance townhouses on the Czech-Austrian border

The aim of the bachelor thesis is the catalog of the human ages in decoration of Renaisssance facades of townhouses on the Czech-Austrian border, content and comparative interpretation of selected theme. The first chapter discusses the state of research in historical and art-historical science. Next it discusses the historiography, the concept a sgraffito and the shape of Renaissance townhouses. The second chapter deals with the actual motive of human ages, symbolism and theatrical adaptation. The third chapter describes the various fronts on the Czech-Austrian border. The last chapter compares the different decorations and solve religious question of the owner. The conclusion summarizes the findings and presents opportunities for further research.

Paper presents conditions of chosen buildings in 2007-2008. Document does not present all existing buildings of this type. Sample is however selected to represent wide spectrum of architectural styles as from Gothic style, over Renaissance to historicist styles of 19th century. Author comes out both from information stated in the various specialized and touristic publications and from the outcomes of his own survey.
